I watched ‘Let Me In’ last night,  wasn’t sure what it was about and sometimes I think that can be a wonderful state to be in when watching a movie but apparently its a remake of an older original. This version stars Chloe Mortez the young actress who also plays “Hit Girl” in the fantastically ridiculous ‘Kick ass’ movie I watched a few months ago who I think is destined for great things in the future.

I really enjoyed this movie, without giving too much away the story is about a young girl that moves into a block of apartments next door to a boy who is being bullied by some particularly nasty kids at school. It’s clear something isn’t quite right about the girl and as their friendship develops the story gets darker and creepier as the relationship between the two of them, the girls father and a police detective following  a lead he really would do better to ignore, unfolds.

The special effects are suitably undertone and the majority of the movie is pure acting and atmosphere where the talents of previously mentioned Chloe Mortez, Kodi Smit-Mcphee, Elias Koteas and Richard Jenkins are allowed to shine. If you like horror movies then you should definitely check this out, the story of the two childrens relationship and how it develops has a hidden message about how the young girl might well have developed her friendship with her father figure and leaves you questioning if the whole situation is accidental or intentional manipulation on her part, good stuff.
